What is this course about?

This course focuses on transferring skills necessary to enable students to become qualified lead energy management system (EnMS) auditors. The course conforms to the international guidelines for auditing management systems (ISO 19011) and International requirements for certification bodies (ISO 17021).

This course will equip students with knowledge of the requirements of the auditing standards and the ability to successfully plan, execute and report on EnMS audits, as well as to act as lead auditors in EnMS audits. EnMS requirements (based on ISO 50001) and South African environmental legal requirements are used as auditing criteria.

Some of the key characteristics of this programme are:

• Down-to-earth and practical training techniques used to explain EnMS auditing principles and techniques; and
• Demonstrations and role-play situations, using simulated case studies, EnMS documentation and specific scenarios to practically exercise auditing skills and the formulation of audit findings

Course Entry Requirements

Implementing an Energy Management System based on ISO 50001: 2014 (CEM-12.2.1) or a similar programme; AND Energy Law for Energy Managers (CEM-12.1.1) or a similar programme.
